Waxmen's Carmen Fantasy

讓我想到 Homer Simpson 有一次對一個歌手說 "I am a big fan of yours! I tape-recorded every single song of yours on the radio!"

OJS,

Snowmen,

Hi Jean,

Sure. Well, people say practice makes perfect. I just think Good/Smart practice makes perfect.:)

How is AJ doing with his violin btw? you pulled his previous practice video off youtube.

Meatball~

My teacher said exactly the same thing!
Practice doesn't make perfect. Practice right makes perfect.

Snowmen,

Glad that your teacher agrees!
Good practice is very important. You may take 2h-4h of classes per week, but you may practice up to 8h per day. Most musicians spend more time practicing, so it is vitally important to know how to practice properly. :D

Just a side note. Galamian used to have a bunch of his students staying over at his place practicing. One violin teacher from China, who has many excellent students (some of them won some national/international competitions), has a policy of having students practicing at his place. Basically he divided his house into many small practice rooms, and he would walk around, spend about 10-20 mins on each student. So he was being a teacher and a supervisor. The results were brilliant. I have never seen anything like that. Pity I was moving so I couldn't take any lessons from him.

Whenever I heard his sound has improved, I took off the old ones and will upload new practice in the future. Your comment is very welcome. He is working on etudes of shifting positions and doing very well. His teacher is still very picky on his finger practice(Schadieck)and scales, especially his double notes scales..........
He loves his new piece Dankla's variation No.5. very much which will be one of the pieces he'll be playing the next student recital. I'll invite you to watch his future videos....if he studies smart and plays well. ^_^

Jean,

Ah, that's a pity. I know 3 things from AJ's previous video.
1. He has a very good teacher,
2. He is very talented,
3. He has supportive parents.

No. 3 is a guess. Most kids don't like to be bothered with little details, esp boys. So certain amount of supervision is often required. Most parents in Taiwan simply do not do that. And the end results can be very different even with the same kid and the same teacher.

Look forward to watching his next release~

(Btw, you changed your blog too...)
